A private departure to Xunantunich buys you a start time, a pace and a vehicle that belong to your party. It also comes in two forms that are not the same thing, and the listings do not always make the difference obvious.
At its strongest it means what you would expect: your own vehicle, your own guide, and a listing that states plainly that only your group will participate. Four of the departures here say exactly that.
The other three carry Private in the name and publish a maximum group size instead — ten, fifteen, fifteen. That usually means a private booking for a group rather than an exclusive departure, which is a perfectly good thing to buy and a different thing from the first kind. Read the listing rather than the title.

Book the private Belize City day
For a couple, a shared morning out of San Ignacio does the same job for a third of the price. For a family of four coming from the coast, the arithmetic reverses — the cost guide works both through.
Included: private or air-conditioned transport, a guide, the reserve entrance on every one, and lunch on all but one. Three state that all fees and taxes are covered.
Not included: gratuities. Pickup outside a stated district on two of them, quoted separately. Lunch on the Cahal Pech day. And on the limousine departure, getting yourself to Belize City in the first place, which is spelled out on the listing.
Not guaranteed: exclusivity. Three of these publish a maximum group size instead of promising it, which is the tell.
If you are two people staying in San Ignacio, a shared half day gives you the same three hours at the ruins for $85 a head instead of $175 upwards. The premium buys exclusivity you may not need — the San Ignacio page lists the alternatives.
If you want the cheapest way in, none of these is it. The floor for a guided visit is $70 and it is a shared departure.
